Mariah (Sandy) Miller
Mariah is a free spirit adjusting to life in a physical body. She enjoys networking people and organizations to create joyful celebrations of culture and positive energy. Her passions include plants of all kinds, promoting the arts and creative expression, and providing opportunities for people to come together and learn from each other. She is the founder of Madison's Kids for Peace Day celebration, and the current director of the Wisconsin Youth Company's Celebrating Youth! event. Her experiences at the 1991-1995 Mother Earth Festivals were truly life changing and she is grateful for the opportunity to participate in creating the 20th anniversary experience. Mariah lives with her family in Rio, WI where she and her husband own Millers’ Christmas Trees. Two of her three children are Mother Earth Festival alumni - Sarah, now 19, and Kevin, 16, attended their first MEF when they were 3 & 6! Kaite, 8, helps keeps the whole family active and youthful. Mariah enjoys practicing Reiki, is a Master Gardener, and is an active member of Dane County’s Youth Resource Network, Madison Herb Society, and the Community Food and Garden Network. Mariah is the volunteer coordinator for the Fall River Area Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market and is an enthusiastic supporter of Madison’s growing Waldorf education initiative and its new school - OakSong School. Her other memberships include the Wisconsin Festivals & Events Association and the Wisconsin Alliance for Arts Education.
Mariah's workshop incorporates her interests in medicinal and native plants, healing through creative self-expression, multi-cultural exploration, and honoring Spirit in daily life. In this experiential workshop the entire group will collaborate in creating a medicine wheel garden. Immediately following Neshi Lokotz’s Sunday morning session on Creating Sacred Space, we will join together to create a medicine wheel in the same area. Incorporating ritual, guided meditation, joyful celebration, and group sharing, this workshop will provide the information you’ll need to create medicine wheel (big or small, garden or tabletop) of your own. At the same time we will be creating a powerful vortex of energy to send our healing prayers to Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants. When the wheel is complete, Neshi will “dance the wheel” sharing her sacred Healing Dress Dance with us all, while blessing the circle and sending our co-created intentions to the Universe. Please bring a stone or crystal of any size, color or type - something which is personally meaningful - to contribute to the medicine wheel. If you wish, you can collect your stone at the closing ceremonies to be part of your personal sacred space at home, or as a momento of your special experience here at the Mother Earth Festival.
